A Chinlone (traditional Myanmar cane ball) tournament was successfully held in Daegu, South Korea, aimed at raising funds to support Myanmar’s Spring Revolution. The event was organized by the Metta Parami Humanitarian Organization, with proceeds designated to support internally displaced persons (IDPs) and war refugees in Myanmar, specifically focusing on funding bomb shelters for children’s education in schools for displaced students in Pale Township and Salingyi Township. The funds will be effectively utilized to ensure the safety of children continuing their education despite the ongoing conflict.
Myanmar nationals from Daegu and surrounding areas participated in the tournament. During the award ceremony, a prominent revolutionary activist known as Daegu Sayadaw delivered an inspiring speech encouraging increased efforts and financial support to accelerate the success of the revolution. He expressed particular gratitude to Myanmar citizens abroad who are contributing to the struggle against the military dictatorship and the fight for democracy. The organizers emphasized that such fundraising events provide crucial support for People’s Defense Forces, Ethnic Armed Organizations, and displaced civilians who are risking their lives in the revolution.
The organizers further stated that these fundraising initiatives help maintain momentum in the revolutionary movement while providing essential support to those on the frontlines of the struggle. They called for continued unity among Myanmar people abroad in their efforts to end the military dictatorship and establish a federal democratic system. The tournament demonstrated the ongoing commitment of the Myanmar diaspora to support their fellow citizens fighting for democracy and freedom back home, while ensuring that vital services like education can continue even under challenging circumstances. The event highlighted the importance of international solidarity and sustained support for Myanmar’s democratic movement.
