The Karen National Union (KNU) Mergui-Tavoy District has confirmed that two civilians, including a 10-year-old child, were killed when the military council conducted an airstrike on Kyauk Ein village in Kaseik-do Township, Tavoy District, Tanintharyi Region. The attack occurred on June 7 at approximately 10:55 AM when a military jet fighter dropped two bombs on Kyauk Ein (Kwei Lay) village in the Taung Pyauk village tract.
The airstrike resulted in the immediate deaths of 10-year-old Saw Than Win Htwe and 55-year-old U Than Aung. The area is located within KNU-controlled territory, where the military council frequently conducts airstrikes under the pretext of clearance operations. These deliberate attacks on civilian populations have caused widespread fear among local residents, with many forced to flee to safer locations.
The Kaseik-do Township has witnessed multiple civilian casualties due to military council airstrikes this year, with significant destruction of homes, religious buildings, and schools, according to local sources. The deteriorating security situation in the region has severely impacted education, healthcare, and economic activities in the area.
