A candlelight vigil was held in front of San Francisco City Hall in California, United States, on April 5th, led by the Free Burma Action Committee-Northern California. This marked their 154th consecutive public demonstration in San Francisco, with participation from Spring Revolution forces, supporting citizens, and students. The event specifically focused on offering prayers and support for Myanmar people affected by the recent earthquake disaster. The gathering brought together various members of the Myanmar community in the Bay Area who joined in solidarity to remember those impacted by the natural disaster.
During the ceremony, participants offered prayers for the peaceful rest of monks, civilians, and students who lost their lives in the earthquake. Additionally, One Myanmar Community joined the event and conducted fundraising activities for earthquake victims. The collected donations will be directly distributed to affected people on the ground in Myanmar. This demonstration of support from Myanmar people abroad, through collective prayer and charitable giving, shows their continued engagement and desire to help their homeland and fellow citizens during times of crisis. The event highlighted the strong connections maintained by the Myanmar diaspora community with their country of origin and their commitment to supporting those facing hardship back home.
