The General Strike Coordination Body (GSCB) today, on August 24, called for all people to oppose the illegal sham election planned by the terrorist military council. Currently, the military council is attempting to deceive the public through fake peace talks and fraudulent elections on the political front, while desperately trying to whitewash their war crimes, injustices, and oppression through political means.
The GSCB emphasized that this election is absolutely not a solution for the country and its people, but rather a trap. The illegal sham election is merely another tool to further oppress and deceive people who are already struggling under various forms of repression and fear. It is designed to transform the war criminals into a pseudo-civilian government wearing a democratic facade while maintaining their authoritarian control.
The revolutionary forces are urged to transform the National Unity Consultative Council and National Unity Government into more effective organizations with strong political leadership capabilities as soon as possible. They are also encouraged to implement local democracy and administration in revolutionary-controlled territories, and work towards strengthening federal units based on the principle of ‘coming together’ federalism. This bottom-up approach to federalism, starting from strengthening states to building a strong union, should be the guiding principle in constructing the future federal union.
