BRITAIN- It was announced today (October 29) that the British Government had targeted sanctions against the organizations providing aviation fuel and equipment to the Myanmar military.
Asia Sun Group Company Limited; Swan Energy Company Limited, Myan-Oil Company Limited; Rich Ray Trading Company Limited and Progress Technology Support Company Limited (a.k.a Royal Shune Lei) companies were sanctioned by the British Government.
“Human rights violations, including the Burmese military’s airstrikes on civilian infrastructure across the country, are unacceptable. Harming innocent civilians will not be tolerated,” Indo-Pacific Affairs Minister Catherine West stated.
In August 2024, the highest number of Myanmar military airstrikes have been recorded, killing dozens of civilians.
“Therefore, the UK directed sanctions on the companies/pillars selling and distributing aviation fuel and equipment to the Myanmar military. Our alliance countries UK and Canada have put stricter restrictions on the Myanmar military getting money, resources, and equipment (through those companies),” the Minister added.
The recent sanctions would bring more pressure on the Myanmar military and the UK has been supporting and standing with the people of Myanmar to build a Peaceful Democratic Federal State in the future, the Minister notified.
In addition, Britain released a joint statement with the EU and Canada, calling for Myanmar’s military to be held accountable, be justified, and end the violence.
