A border guard police officer named Man Hein, who had previously shot and killed two civilians in Gyobingauk Township, Bago Region, was killed in an attack by revolutionary forces, according to an official from the Underground Guerrilla Force-Oatpo, Battalion 3802 Division 4 of Thayarwady District. The incident occurred on May 13 at 10:00 AM when Man Hein, wearing civilian clothes, was riding a motorcycle from the Talaykone Village police station in Gyobingauk Township’s urban ward. He was ambushed by revolutionary forces on the western road of Talaykone Village.
When attacked, Man Hein attempted to escape by running into a nearby house. However, revolutionary forces pursued him into the building and captured him. They subsequently shot him once in the head, resulting in his immediate death. The revolutionary forces seized several items from the deceased officer, including 20 rounds of G3 ammunition, one communication radio, a motorcycle, and 600 kyats in cash. The revolutionary group issued a statement detailing these seized items.
The deceased border guard police officer had a history of violence against civilians. He had previously shot and killed two motorcycle riders who allegedly failed to stop when ordered, working alongside other military council forces. Additionally, he was known for forcibly recruiting local youth as porters, gathering intelligence on activists and revolutionary forces, and extorting money from civilians under various pretexts. These actions were cited as the reasons for the revolutionary forces’ targeted operation against him.
The Underground Guerrilla Force-Oatpo, Battalion 3802 Division 4 of Thayarwady District, has issued a warning to civilians to completely avoid areas near military installations and their outposts that have been causing trouble for revolutionary forces. They have announced their intention to intensify attacks on military positions. The increasing brutality of military council forces has caused widespread fear among civilians, while revolutionary forces have responded with escalating counter-operations. This incident represents another example of the ongoing conflict between resistance forces and military-affiliated security forces in Myanmar.
