A spokesperson from the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) Brigade 2, Battalion 5 Kan Ni Border Defense Force has confirmed that four military council soldiers, including one officer, were killed during clashes on the Taungoo-Leiktho road connecting Taungoo Township and Thandaunggyi Township in Bago Region. The incidents occurred during two separate engagements between revolutionary forces and military council troops.
On September 11, revolutionary forces intercepted and attacked a military council column near Ohtwin village as it moved along the Taungoo-Leiktho road with approximately 200 troops from Taungoo. During this engagement, one military officer and two soldiers were killed, with many others wounded. The deceased and injured soldiers were transported back to Taungoo by vehicle. The clash demonstrated the ongoing resistance operations in the area against military council movements.
A subsequent attack took place on September 14 at around 2:30 AM near Myuk Oo village in Thandaunggyi Township. This engagement resulted in two immediate military council casualties and four wounded soldiers. While the deceased were transported to Taungoo by vehicle, the four wounded soldiers had to be carried on hammocks as the military column retreated. These incidents highlight the continued resistance activities against military council operations in the region.
The KNLA spokesperson noted that the military council continues to conduct daily operations along the Taungoo-Leiktho road with significant troop numbers. As a result, revolutionary forces have issued warnings to local civilians to exercise caution when traveling in the area. Additionally, the resistance forces have appealed to the public for support, particularly regarding their need for weapons and ammunition to continue their defensive operations against the military council’s activities in the region. The ongoing situation reflects the broader conflict between revolutionary forces and the military council in Myanmar’s eastern regions.
