The People’s Defense Force has confirmed that an ambush on military troops patrolling between Wettoe and Kaboe villages in Kanbalu Township, Sagaing Region, resulted in seven military casualties and the seizure of weapons and ammunition. The clash occurred around 6:30 AM on September 8, involving approximately 17 military personnel and Pyu Saw Htee members. During the engagement, revolutionary forces successfully captured two carbine rifles, one MA-1 rifle, one G-3 rifle, and one smooth-bore rifle. The resistance forces were able to withdraw safely without any casualties.
The operation was jointly conducted by the Kanbalu Movement Group, Ayardaw Township People’s Defense Force, and Tanze Township People’s Defense Force. The battle took place on the road between Wettoe and Kaboe villages, where resistance forces ambushed the military patrol. After the battle, it was confirmed that there were no additional military casualties beyond the initial report.
Simultaneously, in Depayin Township, Sagaing Region, revolutionary forces engaged military troops who were attempting to retrieve supply drops from aircraft, resulting in three military casualties, as confirmed by the White People’s Defense Force. The battle, which occurred around 5 PM on September 7, lasted over an hour and took place in the Letanmu fields between Kanpyar village and Depayin town. The military force involved in this engagement consisted of approximately twenty personnel, equivalent to two infantry sections. The resistance forces reported that the military’s airdropped supplies landed in the fields rather than reaching their intended destination, and noted that with more ammunition, they could have potentially seized more weapons from the military forces.
