
According to an official from Myeik District Battalion 2, intense fighting broke out between resistance forces and the military forces stationed near Tamut Chun village in Tanintharyi Township, Tanintharyi Region. The battle, which began around 9 AM on August 10th and continued until 4 PM, resulted in confirmed casualties and injuries on the military side.
During the engagement, four military personnel were killed and at least ten others were wounded. While some resistance fighters sustained injuries, no fatalities were reported on their side. The offensive was carried out through a coordinated effort between Battalion 2’s Units 2 and 3 from Myeik District and the People’s Defense Force of Tanintharyi Township.
The military has established fortified positions around farmlands and Tamut Chun village since late July, conducting regular artillery strikes that have caused significant concern among local residents. These military actions have led to frequent clashes in the region, resulting in civilian hardships and disruptions to daily life. The continuous presence of military forces and their aggressive tactics have created an atmosphere of tension and uncertainty in the area.
Given the current security situation, local residents and travelers are strongly advised to exercise extreme caution and remain vigilant. Myeik District Battalion 2 has specifically requested that people follow the safety guidelines issued by revolutionary forces. Officials have emphasized the importance of maintaining heightened awareness until the security situation in the region improves, urging residents to prioritize their safety while conducting their daily activities.
