On February 27 at 6:00 AM, a confrontation occurred in Yeipotgyi village, Pwintbyu Township, Magway Region, when revolutionary forces approached to negotiate the surrender and defection of Pyu Saw Htee members operating under the military council. According to an official from the Minbu District Battalion No. 4, the battle began when Pyu Saw Htee members initiated firing against the revolutionary forces. During the engagement, the military council deployed an MI-35 attack helicopter, which conducted five separate aerial strikes to support their ground forces. Although revolutionary forces initially held tactical advantage on the ground, they were forced to make a strategic withdrawal due to the combination of air support and military council reinforcements arriving at the scene.
The clash resulted in three Pyu Saw Htee members being killed and three others sustaining severe injuries. The revolutionary forces successfully withdrew from the area without suffering any casualties. During the operation, they managed to seize various weapons and equipment from the Pyu Saw Htee forces, including one carbine rifle, 149 rounds of ammunition, two ammunition magazines, 11 G3 bullets, one magazine spring, one dagger, five mobile phones, and two power banks. The successful operation was carried out through the coordinated efforts of multiple revolutionary groups, including Minbu District Battalion No. 4 and allied forces such as the People’s Defense Forces from Pauk and Myaing townships, Young Force PKU, Earthquake Defence Force PKU, and the Joker Guerrilla Force.
This joint operation demonstrates the effective coordination among various revolutionary forces in the region and their capability to conduct successful operations against military council-affiliated groups. The continued use of aerial assets by the military council, including attack helicopters, remains a significant threat to both revolutionary forces and civilian populations in the area. The incident highlights the ongoing conflict between pro-democracy forces and military council-affiliated groups, as well as the strategic importance of local alliances in the resistance movement. The successful seizure of weapons and equipment represents a tactical victory for the revolutionary forces, despite the challenges posed by the military council’s superior air power and reinforcement capabilities.
