A clash occurred between the military council forces and People’s Defense Forces at the border area between Myaung Township in Sagaing Region and Yeisagyo Township in Magway Region, resulting in 5 casualties from the military council side and the capture of 9 prisoners of war, according to revolutionary news sources.
The battle broke out around 9 AM on February 6 when military council forces numbering over one hundred advanced from Yeisagyo Township toward the Yaylaykyun area. During the three-hour engagement, the military council deployed Mi-35 helicopter gunships and two fighter jets for aerial attacks. Although three resistance fighters were wounded in the airstrikes, their injuries were not life-threatening. The military council forces continued their heavy artillery bombardment in the conflict area, forcing local residents to flee to safer locations.
Local civilians remain displaced and concerned about potential further military operations in the area. The ongoing artillery shelling by military council forces around the battle zone has prevented residents from returning to their homes, as they continue to seek shelter in safer locations. The military council’s continued use of heavy weapons and the possibility of further military columns advancing into the area has created significant anxiety among the local population, who are currently staying in temporary shelters away from the conflict zone.
