Local residents report that intense fighting broke out between ethnic revolutionary forces and military council troops in Kan Gyi village, Naung Cho Township, Shan State, resulting in heavy casualties for the military council forces and their subsequent retreat. The clash occurred on June 8 when military council forces launched an offensive from Taung Khan village towards Kan Gyi village, engaging in fierce combat with revolutionary forces led by the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA).
According to local sources, the military council forces suffered significant casualties during the battle and were forced to retreat back to Taung Khan village around 7:53 PM. Revolutionary forces successfully regained control of Kan Gyi village following the military’s withdrawal. The offensive against the military council forces was carried out by a coalition of revolutionary groups including the TNLA-led allied forces, the Democratic People’s Liberation Army (DPLA) vanguard, and People’s Defense Force (PDF) units.
Despite the military council’s announcement of a ceasefire during June, continuous fighting has been occurring in the Taung Khan village area of Naung Cho Township. The military council has been consistently reinforcing their positions with additional troops and weapons from Yatsauk, leading to escalating military tensions in the region. TNLA spokesperson Tar Aik Kyaw revealed during a press conference on June 5 that the military council continues to conduct offensive operations, airstrikes, and artillery attacks in the area. He noted that while military engagement between both sides remains high, the TNLA is implementing strategic military operations in response to the ongoing situation.
