A fierce battle erupted between troops from Military Battalion 258 and People’s Defense Force (PDF) in Yesagyo Township, Magway Region, resulting in three casualties from the military council forces and one fallen PDF member. The conflict, which began around 5 AM on April 29, lasted nearly the entire day and left more than ten military council soldiers wounded. The battle began when PDF forces ambushed a military column of approximately 150 troops from the Yesagyo-based battalion near Thansepin village.
During the battle, the military council forces received artillery support from their headquarters in Yesagyo town. The military troops entered Thansepin village and burned down 11 civilian houses during the confrontation. Local sources reported that fighting continued even as the military forces were conducting their arson attacks on the village. The battle intensified again in the evening, during which a section commander from the Yesagyo Township PDF was fatally shot. After the fighting concluded, the military council forces retreated to their base at Battalion 258.
The operation was a joint effort between the Yesagyo Township People’s Defense Force and Battalion 9 of the Pakokku District. The day-long engagement demonstrated the continuing resistance against military council forces in the region, with both sides suffering casualties. The military’s actions, including the destruction of civilian properties through arson, highlighted the ongoing pattern of violence against civilian infrastructure during their operations. The retreat of military forces to their base after sustaining casualties and failing to achieve their objectives marked a significant moment in the local resistance movement’s defensive operations.
