Revolutionary forces successfully captured the military council’s camp at Harley Curve in Dawei Township, Tanintharyi Region, resulting in the death of at least 10 military council soldiers, while one captain committed suicide and 15 soldiers surrendered by raising white flags, according to revolutionary sources. The battle began on the morning of April 26, 2024, at the military camp which had been garrisoned by approximately 30 military council troops.
The revolutionary forces launched a systematic offensive at the beginning of the battle, but operations were temporarily halted in the afternoon due to continuous airstrikes by the military council’s aircraft. However, when revolutionary forces resumed their offensive in the evening, they managed to completely capture the entire camp, as confirmed by local military sources. During the battle, more than 10 military council soldiers were killed, and as the remaining soldiers were preparing to surrender, one captain took his own life with a firearm. Subsequently, 15 remaining soldiers laid down their weapons and surrendered by raising white flags.
During the battle, the military council’s 302nd and 302nd battalions indiscriminately fired heavy weapons at civilian villages in the area. This bombardment resulted in artillery shells hitting a monastery in Zaha village, killing two innocent civilians and injuring three Buddhist monks. The military council’s actions demonstrate their continued use of excessive force against civilian populations, as reported by local residents. The successful capture of the Harley Curve camp represents a significant victory for revolutionary forces in the Tanintharyi Region, further weakening the military council’s control over the area.
