Resistance forces carried out an attack on locations where the military council was preparing to demonstrate a mock election voting system in Salin Township, Magway Region. According to a spokesperson from the Salin Urban Underground Tiger Force and Salin PDF (Temporary), the attack took place around 8 PM on August 31st, targeting the Township General Administration Office and high school where preparations were being made for demonstrating the mock election voting system.
The security forces at the location consisted of approximately 10 to 15 military personnel who were conducting patrols and forcing civilians to work as porters. While the exact casualties on the military side could not be confirmed, the resistance forces were able to retreat safely without any injuries. The resistance members stated that they were unable to plant mines deeper into the town due to increased military presence in Salin. The military council has been preparing to hold mock elections throughout the country in an attempt to legitimize their seizure of power.
The operation was jointly carried out by the Salin Urban Underground Tiger Force and their allied group, the Salin PDF (Temporary), with the aim of disrupting the military council’s attempts to conduct mock elections. The attack specifically targeted areas where the military council was preparing to demonstrate their planned voting system, which resistance forces view as illegitimate. The military council has been making preparations nationwide to hold these mock elections as part of their efforts to legitimize their control following the coup.
