In a significant clash that occurred in Nyaung Chaythauk village, Shwegyin Township, Bago Region, resistance forces launched a coordinated attack against military council troops stationed in the area. The confrontation resulted in nine casualties and six injuries on the military council’s side, while three resistance fighters lost their lives in the battle. The operation was jointly carried out by the Taung Nyo Column, Waw People’s Defense Force (PDF), and Inwarkaw People’s Defense Force.
The attack took place on April 11 at approximately 6:15 AM, targeting over 100 military council personnel who were conducting patrol duties in Nyaung Chaythauk village. The resistance forces surrounded and engaged the military council troops in an intense firefight. During the battle, the resistance forces also managed to seize weapons and ammunition from the military council troops, as confirmed by a representative from the Taung Nyo Column.
The military council forces in the area had been conducting various acts of violence, intimidation, robbery, and arbitrary arrests against local civilians, prompting the resistance forces to take action to protect the lives and property of the people. A spokesperson from the Taung Nyo Column emphasized their commitment to continuing the fight for the interests of the people, stating that they would persist in their resistance efforts. The operation demonstrates the ongoing struggle between resistance forces and the military council in the region, as local defense forces work to protect civilian populations from military council oppression.
