A spokesperson from the Yangon Army has confirmed an attack using two high-powered explosive devices on the Aung Mingalar Ward administrative office in Hlegu Township, Yangon Region. The incident occurred at approximately 6:50 PM on August 30, when explosives were detonated while military council-appointed administrators and their associates were entering and leaving the building. The attack resulted in casualties, though specific details are still being investigated.
According to the Yangon Army representative, the explosives were strategically placed along the entrance path to the office, which is known to be frequented by military council-affiliated individuals. The spokesperson indicated that future operations are being planned in collaboration with underground resistance groups to carry out more significant attacks. The office was specifically targeted because it serves as a center for the military council’s illegal election activities and is reportedly involved in forced military recruitment and human trafficking of young people.
The Yangon Army has issued a warning that they will continue to target military council-related facilities and individuals involved in the illegal election process. These attacks are part of ongoing resistance efforts against the military council, which continues to perpetrate violence against civilians, enforce mandatory military service, and commit various forms of oppression against the people. The resistance forces maintain their commitment to protecting civilians from the military council’s systematic abuse and human rights violations.
