
On March 16 at approximately 6:00 AM, a man armed with two pairs of scissors entered the Pathein City Police Station in Ayeyarwady Region and launched an attack that resulted in injuries to four police officers, including Station Commander Kyaw Zay Latt. According to local sources, the assailant suddenly entered the police station compound and began attacking police personnel and others present inside the station with the scissors.
The attacker, who has been identified as a resident of Ngapudaw Township though his exact name and address remain unknown, was eventually apprehended by police forces under the military council after they shot him in the leg. During the arrest, he sustained multiple injuries from being beaten and is currently in critical condition. The incident, which was initially kept quiet by police authorities, came to light through local sources who reported the details to media outlets.
A Pathein-based source revealed that although police attempted to suppress news of the attack, information eventually leaked out. The source confirmed that the attacker had targeted anyone he encountered within the police station compound with the scissors, resulting in injuries to the station commander and three other police officers. The attacker was unable to escape and was captured after being shot. The severity of his injuries, combined with the gunshot wound, has left him in a life-threatening condition, according to reports from those familiar with the situation.
