
An incident occurred at the Pathein City Police Station in Ayeyarwady Region where a man armed with two pairs of scissors entered the station and attacked officers, resulting in injuries to four police personnel including Station Commander Kyaw Zay Latt. The attack took place around 6 AM on March 16, when the assailant, who is reportedly from Ngapudaw Township, suddenly entered the police station compound and began attacking police officers and staff with scissors.
During the attack, Station Commander Kyaw Zay Latt and three other police officers sustained injuries from the scissors assault. The police officers under the military council responded by shooting at the attacker, hitting him in the leg before taking him into custody. During the arrest, the attacker was reportedly beaten by police officers, resulting in additional injuries beyond the gunshot wound. Currently, the attacker is in critical condition due to the combination of the gunshot wound and injuries sustained during the arrest.
According to local sources, while the military council’s police force initially attempted to suppress news of the incident, details eventually emerged. While the exact identity of the attacker remains unknown, he is confirmed to be a resident of Ngapudaw Township. The motivation behind the attack on the police station remains unclear.
