
The Taungthar People’s Defense Force has successfully captured an armed robbery group that had been extorting money from local residents near Byenwekon village in Taungthar Township, Mandalay Region. According to a representative from the Taungthar People’s Defense Force, the armed group had been operating in the area since March 15, targeting civilians on secluded roads near Byenwekon village in the northwestern part of Taungthar Township. The group had been forcibly taking motorcycles, mobile phones, and money from passersby through threats and violence.
According to officials from the Taungthar People’s Defense Force, the arrested group consisted of three members, and authorities seized a pistol and several knives from them during the arrest. The robbers had been hiding along less-traveled routes near Byenwekon village, where they would threaten travelers and demand money while stealing their belongings. The successful arrest came after careful investigation based on numerous complaints from local residents who had fallen victim to the group’s criminal activities. The People’s Defense Force conducted surveillance operations before successfully apprehending the suspects.
The arrested robbers will face legal action according to the law, and the People’s Defense Force has announced that they will continue to implement security measures to ensure the safety of local residents’ lives and property.
