The Anya Pit Taing Htaung Lay Group has donated a meal on behalf of a donor to internally displaced persons (IDPs) at a camp in Sarlinkyi Township, who were forced to flee their homes due to military council offensives. The donation consisted of carefully prepared rice and curry dishes delivered to one IDP camp location. These civilians had to abandon their homes due to the military council’s heavy artillery attacks and burning of villages, seeking refuge in safer locations.
The IDPs sheltering in these camps face numerous daily challenges regarding food, shelter, and basic necessities. The situation is particularly difficult for children, elderly people, and pregnant women who face increased hardships regarding food, medicine, and living conditions. Therefore, food donations represent a crucial humanitarian assistance effort for these displaced civilians. The Anya Pit Taing Htaung Lay Group, understanding the difficulties faced by the IDPs, is providing whatever support they can manage.
The displaced people in camps throughout Sarlinkyi Township continue to require various forms of additional support. There is a particular need for weather-resistant shelters, tarpaulins, drinking water, personal hygiene items, healthcare services, and educational supplies. As these displaced civilians are unable to return to their homes due to ongoing security concerns, the need for humanitarian assistance will continue. The situation highlights the ongoing humanitarian crisis caused by military operations, with civilians bearing the brunt of the conflict’s impact as they struggle to maintain basic living standards in temporary shelters away from their homes and communities.
