The protesters carried banners demanding action against the military under Article 33 of the International Labour Organization (ILO). The peaceful demonstration featured participants carrying victory flags while marching to show their opposition to the military dictatorship system.
The protesters carried signs calling for the ILO to implement Article 33 sanctions against Myanmar, aiming to bring international attention to the violations of workers’ rights under military rule. Through the protest, they highlighted how the military coup has resulted in the loss of basic human rights for Myanmar’s people, including the arrest of labor union leaders and systematic violations of workers’ rights. The demonstration emphasized how trade unionists and labor leaders have faced persecution and detention, while workers’ fundamental rights continue to be systematically violated under military rule.
Yinmabin Township has been a stronghold of anti-military dictatorship activism within Sagaing Region, with local residents maintaining consistent opposition to the military regime. The protesters called for an end to the military’s violence against civilians and urged the international community to take more effective action to restore democracy in the country. They emphasized the importance of implementing stronger international measures, including ILO Article 33, to pressure the military council to end its oppression of the civilian population and respect fundamental human and labor rights.
