
The Shwe Yay Kyun People’s Strike Column conducted an anti-military dictatorship protest in Yinmabin Township, Sagaing Region, on March 20. Local residents took time from their daily farming activities to participate in the protest against the military council that seized power. During the demonstration, participants marched while carrying signs demanding democracy, freedom, and justice.
The Shwe Yay Kyun People’s Strike Column was formed to protect the lives and property of local residents and work towards ending the military dictatorship. Protesters raised flags of the National Unity Government and chanted anti-dictatorship slogans to show their opposition to the authoritarian regime. Farmers and youth from villages within Yinmabin Township took time away from their daily work to join the protest march.
The demonstration was conducted peacefully and demonstrated the unity of local residents. It helped expose to the world the oppression, human rights violations, and economic hardships that people are experiencing under military rule. After the protest, participants returned to their daily work activities. However, they remain committed to continuing their movement against the military dictatorship. The protest highlighted the ongoing resistance of Myanmar’s people against military rule and their determination to restore democracy to the country.
