
A protest movement against the military dictatorship was held in Longlone Township, Dawei District, Tanintharyi Region, led by the Dawei District Democracy Movement Strike Committee on the evening of March 13. The protest was organized to commemorate the 37th anniversary of the death of Ko Phone Maw, a student from Yangon Institute of Technology who fell during the fight against the military dictatorship in 1988.
Protesters demonstrated their opposition to the military dictatorship under the banner ‘The Blood of Heroes Will Never Run Dry.’ This protest movement also served as a demonstration to expose to the world the oppression and human rights violations that people are suffering under the current military dictatorship regime.
The Dawei District Democracy Movement Strike Committee declared that they will continue to fight alongside local people with all their strength to completely eliminate the military dictatorship system. They also stated that they will cooperate with revolutionary forces who are fighting to return power to the people’s hands.
