On March 26, a large public protest against the military dictatorship was held in Longlone Township, Tanintharyi Region, led by the Dawei District Democracy Movement Strike Committee (DDMSC). The demonstration was organized to oppose the sham election that the violent military council is attempting to implement. The protesters marched under the slogan Boycott the Fascist Election, March Bravely on the Federal Path.
The protest brought together local residents, youth, and representatives from civil society organizations who peacefully demonstrated while carrying signs and posters demanding opposition to the military dictatorship, democracy, human rights, and justice. The participants also condemned the military council’s acts of violence, looting of public property, and arbitrary arrests and detentions. The protest was a strong show of public resistance against the military regime’s attempts to legitimize their rule through a fraudulent election process.
During the demonstration, participants loudly proclaimed that the military council’s planned election is illegitimate and does not reflect the true will of the people. They emphasized the need to completely eliminate the military dictatorship system and called for all people to unite in the struggle for the emergence of a federal democratic system. The protesters stressed that the military council’s sham election is merely an attempt to maintain their grip on power and that the people must continue to resist these efforts through unified action and peaceful protest movements.
