A protest against Myanmar’s military coup was held in Daegu, South Korea on May 4, led by the Myanmar Federal Democracy Movement Committee (MFDMC). The demonstration focused on opposing Chinese interference in Myanmar’s affairs and called for unity among the people in their fight against the military dictatorship. Protesters emphasized the importance of maintaining resistance until the complete elimination of the military regime.
During the protest, a prominent revolutionary activist known as Daegu Sayadaw delivered a speech emphasizing the importance of individual determination and collective unity in pushing back against the military council. He stressed the need to continue the struggle until the military dictatorship system is completely dismantled. The speaker also highlighted how Chinese interference in Myanmar’s affairs has been hampering democratic movements in the country.
Participants at the protest carried Myanmar national flags, National Unity Government (NUG) flags, and democracy-themed banners while chanting anti-military dictatorship slogans. The protesters called for increased international community support for the Myanmar people’s struggle for democracy and urged stronger action against the military regime. They demanded that the international community take more concrete steps to pressure the military council and support the democratic aspirations of the Myanmar people.
