A coordinated attack was carried out on the Army Combat Training School (Bogyoke Aung San) in Thandaunggyi Township, Karen State, on the morning of August 26. The operation was jointly conducted by Brave Warriors for Myanmar (BWM), Mountain Knight Civilian Defense Forces (MKCDF), Anti-Coup People’s Liberation Force (ACPLF), and KNLA Brigade 2 Battalion 5.
The attack commenced at 10:43 AM, utilizing nine 107mm rockets, all of which successfully hit their intended targets, according to a spokesperson from BWM. This operation was designated as BWM Mission 44. The targeted military training school is a crucial facility that provides essential training for platoon commanders, company commanders, and battalion commanders from across Myanmar.
According to internal intelligence received by the resistance forces, over 400 military officers were attending training at the facility when the attack occurred. The BWM spokesperson confirmed that the timing of the attack was deliberately chosen to coincide with the training session, which had resumed on August 25. The facility serves as a primary training center for the military council’s key commanding officers who are responsible for operations throughout the country.
The attack resulted in significant casualties among military officers and considerable damage to the facility, with detailed information about the extent of the damage to be released later. A BWM representative stated that this mission was carried out as a response on behalf of the people against the military council, which has been systematically oppressing and killing civilians through various means. The spokesperson emphasized that this operation sends a message that military personnel will not be safe anywhere.
