The military forces conducted aerial attacks on villages in Myittha and Thaungtha Townships of Mandalay Region in the early morning of July 16, dropping over 50 bombs using Y-12 aircraft and helicopter gunships. According to local residents, a Y-12 aircraft from Tada-U Air Base bombed villages in the eastern part of Myittha Township at 5:21 AM, releasing 33 bombs during the attack.
While the extent of civilian casualties from these aerial attacks cannot yet be confirmed, local residents have been forced to flee to safer locations due to fears of additional attacks. In Thaungtha Township’s southeastern villages, five helicopter gunships from Meiktila Air Base conducted attacks between 2:56 AM and 3:20 AM, dropping more than 20 bombs and firing machine guns at the villages.
Local sources report that residents in Thaungtha Township are living in constant fear as military helicopter gunships conduct nightly flights over the area, causing significant distress among the civilian population. Additionally, ground operations by military forces continue in both Myittha and Thaungtha Townships, with local civilians facing the constant threat of attacks. The situation has created an atmosphere of ongoing insecurity for residents in these areas, who must remain vigilant against potential military actions at all times.
