The administrator of Alaykone village tract in Min Hla Township, Bago Region, who had been forcibly recruiting young people for military service, was killed in an attack by revolutionary forces. The incident occurred on April 26, 2024, at around 4:30 PM when combined forces from Battalion 3802’s Companies 2 and 3 and the Min Hla Township People’s Defense Force jointly conducted an operation, firing five shots at Administrator Soe Win on the road near Khanlankone village.
During the attack, Administrator Soe Win was killed instantly, and the forces seized several items from him, including a dagger, 60,000 kyats in cash, a motorcycle, two official administrative stamps, and documents containing lists of names of youth targeted for military recruitment. The deceased administrator had been known for forcibly collecting money from local residents under the pretext of military service fees, extorting excessive amounts from those listed for military service, forcibly recruiting young people for the military, and compelling them to serve as porters.
According to an official from Ayeyarwady Region Battalion 3802, Soe Win was ambushed while returning from a cockfighting ring. He was known for exploiting the military service law to extort money and arrest young people. The revolutionary forces have warned civilians to avoid areas near military council troops and their supporters as they continue to intensify their operations against military council soldiers and their infrastructure. The incident highlights the ongoing conflict between resistance forces and military council-appointed administrators who enforce forced recruitment and extortion policies against local populations.
