The administrator Hla Aung, who had challenged the People’s Defense Force (PDF) in Htake Hto Township, Bago Region, was killed in an attack. The incident occurred around 6:45 AM on May 6 while Hla Aung, the administrator of Htukun village tract in western Htake Hto Township, was riding his motorcycle on the road connecting Htukaung village and Htake Hto town. Revolutionary forces from Battalion 3802 Division 4 Underground Guerrilla Force-Htake Hto carried out the attack.
During the attack, Administrator Hla Aung was shot once in the head and died instantly. The attacking forces seized a mobile phone and 10,000 kyats from him. The deceased administrator had been forcibly collecting military service fees from local residents, forcing young people who couldn’t pay these fees into military service as porters, and repeatedly challenging revolutionary forces while extorting money from civilians under various pretexts.
According to local sources, Hla Aung had been collaborating with military forces to enter villages and arrest young people who couldn’t pay military service fees, forcing them to serve as porters. As a result, many young people in the area had been forced to flee their homes, unable to live safely in their villages. When community elders warned him to stop these forced porter recruitments and cautioned that he might face consequences from the PDF, he reportedly challenged them, saying ‘Come if you dare, we’ll exchange lives’ and claimed he didn’t care about any PDF forces.
A representative from Battalion 3802 Division 4 Underground Guerrilla Force-Htake Hto stated that their forces would continue to target the military council and its supporters who have been oppressing civilians and revolutionary forces. They have issued warnings to civilians to completely avoid staying or traveling near these military council associates. The elimination of administrator Hla Aung represents their ongoing campaign against those who actively support and enforce military council policies that harm local communities.
