A local administrator and two military informants were killed in an attack in Saetottara Township, Magway Region, after they were found to be recruiting young people for military service, according to a spokesperson from the Saetottara Township People’s Defense Force. The incident occurred on March 17 in Myaynikone village, where all three individuals were killed instantly in the attack. The deceased were actively involved in forcibly recruiting young people for military service and extorting money from local residents through various means.
The People’s Defense Force confirmed that they recovered some military uniforms from the deceased individuals. The group has issued stern warnings to all township, ward, and village-level administrators who are currently working within the military council’s administrative mechanism to immediately resign from their positions under military-affiliated organizations. The PDF spokesperson emphasized that they will continue to take action against anyone serving as informants for the military council, attempting to organize people’s militia groups, or acting as military collaborators.
The People’s Defense Force has also issued warnings to local residents to avoid going near administrators, military informants, military camps, and military convoys. They stated that they cannot be held responsible for any consequences that may arise if these warnings are not heeded. The group maintains its position of protecting civilians while targeting those who actively support the military council’s oppressive measures against the local population, particularly those involved in forced recruitment and extortion activities.
