A local administrator and two military informants were killed in an attack by the People’s Defense Force (PDF) in Saetottara Township, Magway Region, after they were found to be forcibly recruiting young people for military service. According to a spokesperson from the Saetottara Township People’s Defense Force, the incident occurred on March 17 in Myaynikone village, where the targets were actively involved in forced recruitment and extorting money from local civilians on behalf of the military council.
According to the PDF’s statement, these individuals were engaged in forcibly recruiting young people for military service, demanding money from civilians, and providing intelligence to the military. Some military uniforms were seized from their possession during the operation. The PDF has also issued warnings to all township, ward, and village-level administrators who are part of the military council’s administrative mechanism to immediately resign from their positions. The group emphasized that those who continue to serve as military informants, provide support, or act as pillars for the military council will face severe consequences.
The Saetottara Township People’s Defense Force has warned civilians to avoid areas near administrators, military informants, military camps, and military convoys for their safety. They stated that these actions are being taken to resist military oppression and protect civilian safety. The PDF emphasized that their operations target individuals who actively support the military council’s oppressive activities, including forced recruitment and extortion of civilians. These measures are part of broader efforts to protect civilians from military council persecution and maintain security in the region.
