A local administrator and two military informants were killed in an attack by the People’s Defense Force (PDF) in Saetottara Township, Magway Region, after they were found to be forcibly recruiting young people for military service. According to a spokesperson from the Saetottara Township People’s Defense Force, the incident occurred on March 17 in Myaynikone village, where these individuals had been actively involved in forced recruitment and extorting money from local civilians on behalf of the military council.
Following the attack, some military uniforms were seized from the deceased individuals. The PDF spokesperson confirmed that these people had been serving as informants for the military council and were attempting to organize pro-military militia groups in the area. The PDF has issued warnings to all township, ward, and village-level administrators who are currently working within the military council’s administrative mechanism to immediately resign from their positions. The statement emphasized that severe action would be taken against those who continue to act as military informants or support the military council’s operations.
The People’s Defense Force has advised local residents to avoid areas near administrators’ offices, military informants’ locations, military camps, and military convoys for their safety. They have also stated their commitment to continuing their efforts to protect civilians from military council oppression and to monitor the activities of military-affiliated organizations. The PDF emphasized that their operations are focused on dismantling the military council’s administrative mechanism and protecting civilians from forced recruitment and extortion practices that have become increasingly common under military rule.
