
The administrator Htay Maung and village clerk Myo Zin Win, who were leading the collection of military recruitment lists in Yoekun village, Wundwin Township, Mandalay Region, were shot dead according to local residents. The incident occurred around 2:45 PM on March 17 when unidentified armed individuals entered their homes and opened fire, killing both men instantly.
The deceased administrator Htay Maung and clerk Myo Zin Win were actively involved in collecting lists of young people for military service within the village tract. They were known for facilitating monthly forced recruitment for the military junta, including arresting young people and sending them for porter duties. Additionally, they were reported to have been conducting surveillance on revolutionary forces’ movements and regularly sending intelligence to the military junta.
According to a local resident, both men were involved in forcefully recruiting young people for military service, collecting recruitment lists, and extorting money under the guise of military service fees. They were also known to monitor revolutionary forces’ activities and report them to the military via telephone. The local resident further revealed that they frequently intimidated and threatened civilians in the area. Their actions had made them notorious among the local population for their role in supporting the military junta’s forced recruitment efforts and surveillance activities against resistance forces.
