A powerful remote-controlled mine attack was carried out on the General Administration Office near Mawata Junction in North Dagon Township, Yangon. The incident occurred at 7:50 PM on February 27, when members of the Yangon UG People Army (YUPA) conducted an operation using two high-powered remote-controlled mines. A YUPA spokesperson confirmed that there were likely casualties among military council personnel in the attack.
Following the attack, extensive road closures and security checks were implemented around the North Dagon administrative office area, continuing into the next morning. YUPA representatives stated that due to the proximity of the remote-controlled mines to the military council forces’ positions, casualties were likely, though detailed casualty figures are still being investigated. The attack demonstrated the urban resistance forces’ capability to conduct precision operations against military council administrative targets.
All urban guerrilla fighters involved in the operation successfully withdrew from the area without casualties. YUPA announced that they would be intensifying their urban operations in the future and warned local civilians to avoid areas where military council forces are stationed. This attack represents a significant escalation in resistance activities within Yangon’s urban areas, specifically targeting administrative structures aligned with the military council.
