Revolutionary groups in Yangon have conducted a campaign posting warrant photos of military leader Min Aung Hlaing and Russian President Vladimir Putin throughout the city. The activity, which took place on March 9, was carried out as a demonstration of solidarity between the people of Myanmar and Ukraine. This initiative combines the resistance against the military coup in Myanmar with the international movement opposing Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, highlighting the parallel struggles for democracy and freedom in both nations.
The campaign was organized by four allied revolutionary groups in Yangon, collectively known as Yangon 4 Brothers (Y4B), comprising the Linn Yaung Ni Youth Organization (LYNYO), Mayangone Democratic Front (MDF), Kyimyindaing Networks (KMD18), and Owl Community. These youth organizations are actively working towards the restoration of democracy in Myanmar and are united in their mission to dismantle the military dictatorship. Such activities not only boost the morale of people fighting against the military regime but also draw international attention to the ongoing struggles in Myanmar.
This action aims to expose the crimes committed by both the Myanmar military council and the Russian military to the world. Min Aung Hlaing is responsible for numerous crimes against the Myanmar people, while Putin faces accusations of war crimes in Ukraine. Both leaders are subject to international arrest warrants. The people of Myanmar, like the Ukrainians, are fighting for their freedom, justice, and democracy. The posting of warrant photos throughout Yangon serves as a powerful reminder of the parallel struggles faced by both nations and the international community’s role in addressing these conflicts. This demonstration of solidarity reinforces the global nature of the fight against authoritarianism and the importance of international support for democratic movements.
