Revolutionary groups in Yangon have conducted a campaign posting arrest warrant images of military leader Min Aung Hlaing and Russian President Vladimir Putin throughout the city. The activity, which took place on March 9, was carried out as a demonstration of solidarity between the people of Myanmar and Ukraine. This initiative aimed to show unity between Myanmar and Ukrainian civilians while standing against oppressive forces. The campaign highlighted the international legal actions being pursued against both leaders for their respective roles in violence against civilians.
The operation was jointly conducted by four allied Yangon revolutionary groups known as the Yangon 4 Brothers (Y4B), comprising the Linn Yaung Ni Youth Organization (LYNYO), Mayangone Democratic Front (MDF), Kyimyindaing Networks (KMD18), and the Owl Community. These groups systematically posted the warrant images and solidarity messages across major streets, neighborhoods, and public areas throughout various townships in Yangon. This coordinated effort reflected the ongoing struggle of Myanmar’s people for justice and the international community’s response to authoritarian aggression.
This activism draws parallels between the conflict resulting from the military coup in Myanmar and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The campaign emphasizes how both the Myanmar military council and Russia have violated international laws and committed acts of violence against innocent civilians. The people of Myanmar continue their fight for democracy, freedom, and justice, calling for global recognition and support of their struggle. The posting of these warrant images serves as a powerful reminder of the ongoing resistance against authoritarian forces and the importance of international accountability for leaders who commit crimes against their own people and other nations.
