The Arakan Army (AA) spokesperson Khaing Thukha has confirmed that AA and allied forces have successfully captured all military outposts around Nyaung Kyar village in Pantaung Township, Bago Region. The offensive operations targeted the military base in Nyaung Kyar village, which is located in Pantaung Township, Bago Region, adjacent to Thandwe Township in Rakhine State. The AA-led allied forces have successfully taken control of all security outposts in the area, marking a significant territorial gain.
However, the fighting continues to be intense due to ongoing airstrikes by the military council forces, according to Khaing Thukha’s explanation. During the battle for Nyaung Kyar village, military council troops have been retreating in disarray rather than conducting an organized withdrawal, and the situation remains complex. Intense fighting is occurring around Pagan Field village and Nyaung Kyar village areas, with AA and allied forces now controlling the majority of security outposts around Nyaung Kyar village, as confirmed by Khaing Thukha. The military council forces continue to resist primarily through air operations, while their ground forces are scattered and retreating in different directions.
The fighting in Nyaung Kyar military base in Pantaung Township, Bago Region, which began in January, has continued to intensify, with the military council mounting significant resistance through air power. The AA forces had previously captured the Moe Htee Mountain outpost, located near Thandwe Township, on January 26. Currently, the AA has officially announced that they are conducting offensive operations into Ayeyarwady, Bago, and Magway Regions, all of which share borders with Rakhine State. This expansion of military operations demonstrates the AA’s growing capability to project force beyond their traditional areas of operation in Rakhine State, putting additional pressure on the military council’s control over these regions.
