Military sources have confirmed that the Arakan Army (AA) allied forces have captured the tower station outpost, a crucial defensive position of Nat Yay Kan camp in Ngape Township, Magway Region, which is connected to the Rakhine Yoma mountain range. The capture took place on June 4th, with joint forces including AA and local People’s Defense Forces (PDF) participating in the operation. The tower station outpost is located approximately 2,000 meters from the Nat Yay Kan camp along the Ann-Padan road. The military council has reinforced their position with eight trucks carrying between 150 to 200 troops from the Padan military base, along with three additional supply convoys, according to CDM Captain Zin Yaw.
The Nat Yay Kan camp holds strategic importance, and its loss would effectively block the military council’s route to advance back to Ann Township. Military analysts note that losing this position would also pose a significant threat to the Padan military base and could allow revolutionary forces to control the Pathein-Monywa road. Furthermore, if revolutionary forces secure Nat Yay Kan, they could potentially open new military fronts extending to Minbu, Salay, Upper Minhla, and Setoktara townships. The position’s capture represents a significant strategic advantage for the resistance forces in their ongoing operations in the region.
Currently, AA allied forces are conducting offensive operations against the Nat Yay Kan camp, while the military council continues to supply reinforcements, weapons, and provisions from Artillery Operations Command Headquarters No. 905 in Padan military zone. Despite both sides declaring a ceasefire citing earthquake concerns, with AA and its three alliance partners on one side and the military council on the other, actual fighting continues on the ground. The military council continues to conduct airstrikes and offensive operations, while revolutionary forces maintain their counter-offensive operations. This ongoing conflict demonstrates the complex nature of the current military situation in the region, with both sides actively engaged in combat operations despite official ceasefire declarations.
