A military council vehicle carrying troops was attacked with mines on the Monywa-Mandalay road in Sagaing Region, resulting in casualties among military personnel, according to a spokesperson from the People’s Defense Force – South Monywa. The incident occurred on September 22 in the evening when resistance forces targeted a six-wheeled Dyna truck that had departed from the Nataykan military outpost in Chaung-U Township.
The attack took place near the Naylagyauk stone crusher site between Nataykan and Yepoesar areas, where resistance fighters deployed three Padamya mines against the military vehicle. Following the attack, although military forces responded with heavy and small arms fire, resistance members were able to safely withdraw from the area without any casualties. While the exact number of military casualties could not be immediately confirmed, resistance forces reported that the attack was effective in causing damage to the military council troops.
The People’s Defense Force – South Monywa, which carried out the operation, has issued warnings to local civilians to exercise caution when traveling along the Monywa-Mandalay road due to increased military movement in the area. The resistance group continues to monitor military council activities in the region, particularly along this strategic route. The attack represents ongoing resistance efforts against military forces in the Sagaing Region, where numerous clashes have occurred between resistance groups and military council troops since the 2021 military takeover.
