According to the Myaing Dawn Ming Ground News Information Group, more than 8,000 civilians from 11 villages have been forced to flee to safety as the military council conducts burning operations in the border area between Myaing, Pakokku, and Yedashe townships in Magway Region. The military operations began on September 22, with forces systematically targeting and burning forest shelters where internally displaced persons (IDPs) had been taking refuge.
The military council forces burned down IDP shelters between Kwantheekhan village and Kyaukhtat village in Yedashe Township yesterday evening. Today, September 23, the forces have reached near Kyin village in Myaing Township and are continuously firing heavy artillery at nearby villages. As a result, residents from eleven villages, including Kwantheekhan village, Kyaukhtat village, and Kyin village, have been forced to evacuate to safer locations. A representative from the Myaing Dawn Ming Ground News Information Group reported that the military forces are specifically targeting forest shelters housing displaced civilians rather than entering the villages directly.
The military council is also conducting daily aerial bombardments and artillery attacks across Myaing, Pakokku, and Yedashe townships. Local resistance forces have urged civilians in the area to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions for their safety. The ongoing military operations have created a humanitarian crisis in the region, with thousands of civilians facing displacement and the destruction of their temporary shelters. The systematic burning of IDP shelters represents a continuation of the military council’s tactics of targeting civilian infrastructure and forcing local populations to flee their homes.
