A military soldier was killed during a clash in Sagaing Township, Sagaing Region, as confirmed by an official from the Unicorn Guerrilla Force. The battle occurred when resistance forces attacked a military column moving from Sint Kaing village toward Mingun town. The incident took place when military troops, who were returning from Banmaw town via military vessels, began moving on foot from Sint Kaing village toward Mingun on August 16.
According to reports, resistance forces pursued and attacked the military column during their movement. In the ensuing battle, one military soldier was killed, and the remaining troops retreated by boats to Thonezaypar village in Myingyan Township, carrying the body of their fallen comrade. The military column, consisting of over 100 personnel, had been conducting operations in various villages, confiscating civilian property and transporting it by boats to the eastern bank of the river. As the soldiers moved from village to village, resistance forces continued to pursue and engage them.
During the battle, military vessels stationed near Thonezaypar village provided artillery support using 8-point heavy weapons. Despite this artillery support, resistance force members successfully withdrew from the area without suffering any casualties. The military’s movement pattern involved troops conducting ground operations while boats transported seized civilian property across the river. The resistance forces maintained their pursuit and engagement strategy throughout the operation, effectively disrupting the military column’s activities while avoiding casualties to their own forces.
