Revolutionary forces launched an attack on military council troops temporarily stationed at the Yatkansint Monastery in Pakaryi Village, Dawei Township, Tanintharyi Region, resulting in seven military casualties and the seizure of weapons, according to a spokesperson from the Duraka Column. The attack began around 3 PM on September 14th at the monastery located along the Dawei-Hteekhee road, where military council forces had established a temporary base. The ensuing battle lasted for two days, during which two military staff sergeants were among the seven casualties from the military council side.
During the battle, five military council personnel, including a lieutenant colonel, were wounded. Revolutionary forces seized various weapons and ammunition, including one MA1 rifle, four ammunition magazines, two 79mm grenades, two 60mm artillery shells, and 200 rounds of 5.56 ammunition. One resistance fighter was also killed in action during the engagement. The military council had approximately 100 troops stationed at the monastery at the time of the attack. Despite the military council forces receiving air support and artillery backup, their formation was eventually broken, forcing them to retreat from the position.
The operation was jointly carried out by multiple resistance groups, including the Duraka Column of the Dawei National Liberation Army (DNLA), Dawei People’s Liberation Force (TPLF), Eden Special Guerrilla Force, Klar Thachat, Biloun Guerrilla Force, Dawei Guerrilla Revolutionary Force (DGRF), Dawei District Allied Forces, Dawna Battalion 7, and Dawei Eastern Forest Force (DEF). Given the current intensification of military operations across the country, revolutionary forces have advised local civilians to remain vigilant about potential airstrikes and to follow air defense guidelines. The resistance forces emphasized the importance of civilian safety measures, particularly regarding aerial attacks, as military operations continue to escalate throughout the region.
