The Karen National Union (KNU) has destroyed over 6 million stimulant tablets that were seized in Brigade 7 territory along the Thai-Myanmar border in Karen State, according to Karen military sources. The destroyed narcotics included 5 million WY stimulant tablets that were seized on April 27 from a boat at the Manerplaw sawmill checkpoint, along with other previously confiscated drugs. The destruction took place on September 19.
The KNU Central Judiciary Department conducted thorough investigations regarding these narcotics before deciding to destroy them. The destruction process was carried out systematically at 9:00 AM on September 19. The military source confirmed that the individuals involved in transporting the drugs have already been prosecuted according to law by the KNU’s judicial department. The destroyed drugs primarily consisted of those seized during the April operation, where two individuals were arrested aboard a boat near the Manerplaw sawmill checkpoint.
The Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) forces have been actively conducting anti-narcotics operations in the region and effectively preventing drug trafficking activities. This destruction of seized narcotics demonstrates the KNU’s commitment to combating drug trafficking in their controlled territories. The operation represents a significant success in their ongoing efforts to prevent the flow of illegal drugs through the border regions under their administration.
