
An attack on the Ward Administration Office in Quarter 124, East Dagon Township, Yangon, resulted in injuries to the administrator and three militia members. The incident occurred at 2:19 AM on September 19, 2023, when urban guerrilla forces launched an attack using two hand grenades at the administration office located at the intersection of Hanthawaddy Road and Pyitawtmyaing Road in Quarter 124, East Dagon Township. A spokesperson from Operation Flame confirmed that the administrator and three militia members were wounded in the attack.
Following the attack, the injured were transported to the hospital, while military council forces, police, and militia members conducted security checks in Quarter 124 and nearby Quarter 133. According to ground reports, roadblocks and civilian checks continued into the morning hours around the Quarter 124 administration office area, with authorities conducting thorough inspections of passersby. The security forces maintained a heavy presence in the area, carrying out extensive searches and questioning of local residents.
The operation was carried out as a joint special operation called Operation Flame-Fire Power, conducted by Operation Flame in collaboration with the Yangon UG People Army (YUPA). All attacking forces successfully withdrew from the area without casualties. The ward administration office was specifically targeted because of its involvement in the military council’s planned election activities. Operation Flame has announced that they completely reject the military council’s mock election and will continue their offensive operations alongside their Yangon revolution allies. The group emphasized their commitment to opposing the military council’s electoral processes and stated their determination to continue coordinated attacks with other revolutionary forces in Yangon.
