The Karen National Union (KNU) Myeik-Dawei District has reported that a battle occurred along the Thai-Myanmar border area of Maw Taung in Tanintharyi Region, resulting in the death of two military council soldiers and the seizure of two firearms. The clash took place near Theinkun village along the Maw Taung trade route at the Thai-Myanmar border in Tanintharyi Township at approximately 8:00 AM on September 18. The revolutionary forces engaged in combat with the military council troops in this strategic border area.
The battle involved coordinated action between the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) Battalion 11 under Military Division 4 and allied revolutionary forces. During the engagement, two military council soldiers were killed and two others were wounded. The revolutionary forces successfully captured military equipment including one MA-1 rifle, one MA-3 rifle, one hand grenade, 100 rounds of ammunition, and four ammunition clips. This operation demonstrated the continued effectiveness of resistance forces in the border region.
This recent clash follows a previous engagement in the same area on September 11, where more than ten military council soldiers were killed. In that earlier battle, revolutionary forces seized a significant cache of weapons and ammunition, including two MA-1 rifles, one MA-3 rifle, two hand grenades, 659 rounds of ammunition, two explosive devices, and 21 ammunition magazines. Revolutionary forces have noted that these consecutive battles reflect increased military council movement in the region, which has prompted heightened resistance activities. The continued conflicts in this border area highlight the ongoing struggle between revolutionary forces and the military council, with resistance forces maintaining active operations to counter military council presence in the region.
