
A spokesperson from the People’s Defense Force – South Monywa has confirmed that eight military soldiers were killed after resistance forces conducted two separate mine attacks on military columns along the Monywa-Mandalay road in Chaung-U Township, Sagaing Region. The first attack occurred at approximately 11:19 AM on September 17, when resistance forces targeted a military column of about 70 personnel that had departed from the Nataykan military outpost. The attack was carried out using two Padamya mines near the Nayla stone crusher factory between Nataykan and Yaypoesar. This initial attack resulted in the death of five military soldiers and left several others wounded.
In a second attack at around 11:24 AM the same day, resistance forces targeted another military column of approximately 20 personnel that had departed from the Gwepinhtaw military outpost in Myinmu Township. This attack was conducted at the same location using three Padamya mines, resulting in the immediate death of three military soldiers and causing additional casualties. The operations were carried out by the People’s Defense Force – South Monywa, which operates under Strategic Command 64 and Battalion 11 of the Monywa District Military Command. According to official confirmation from resistance leaders, all resistance fighters successfully withdrew from the area without sustaining any casualties or injuries.
