During July and August in Kalay District of Sagaing Region, 14 new military recruits defected to the People’s Defense Force (PDF) Drone Unit office with 7 weapons. These defectors were young people who had been forcibly recruited as porters by the terrorist military. They brought with them 5 MA-3 type small arms, 2 MA-1 type small arms, 9 hand grenades, 4 rounds of 60mm artillery shells, 3 energy drinks, 15 ammunition magazines, and 1,200 rounds of 5.56 ammunition.
The Kalay District People’s Defense Force awarded each defector an emergency reward of 3 million kyats, and they are now fighting alongside revolutionary forces against the terrorist military. The Kalay District People’s Defense Force continues to welcome other new military recruits who wish to defect, and has announced that they will continue fighting alongside revolutionary forces under the Ministry of Defense of the National Unity Government until Min Aung Hlaing’s terrorist military is completely eliminated.
