The KNU-Myeik Dawei District Secretary Saw Eh Nah confirmed that more than 10 military soldiers were killed when revolutionary joint forces ambushed a military column from Dawei in Tanintharyi Region. The battle occurred on September 14th when revolutionary forces intercepted a military column of about 100 troops near Pakari village. This military column had departed from Dawei to meet and provide reinforcements to another column returning from Kyaukmae Mountain outpost to Dawei.
During the battle, more than 10 military soldiers were killed and approximately 15 were wounded. The revolutionary forces also seized one MA1 rifle and some ammunition. After the battle, the military column retreated toward Dawei city, with only one instance of air support conducting bombing raids on the village. Saw Eh Nah confirmed that all revolutionary fighters remained safe during the operation. The attack was carried out through coordination between Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) Brigade 4, Battalion 12, revolutionary allied forces, and People’s Defense Forces.
Following their losses in the battle, the military council forces retaliated by conducting fighter jet airstrikes on Pakari village, which was not involved in the fighting. According to a statement from the KNU-Myeik Dawei District Public Relations and Information Department, these airstrikes damaged a monastery and several civilian homes in the village. This incident demonstrates the military’s continued pattern of targeting civilian infrastructure in response to battlefield losses against resistance forces.
