
In Mogok City, Mandalay Region, the military council continues to conduct airstrikes on areas controlled by the TNLA ethnic armed group without ground combat engagement. On September 16 at 7:08 AM, military aircraft bombed areas near Chantha Gyi Pagoda and Lin Yaung Kyi Monastery in eastern Mogok, resulting in injuries to one woman and damage to at least four homes. According to local residents, the attacks used 500-pound bombs, with explosions powerful enough to shake the entire city.
During August, military council airstrikes caused numerous civilian casualties. On August 18, bombing near Kyat Pyin Market’s nunnery injured one civilian. On August 17, two separate airstrikes on eastern Mogok killed three civilians, including a motorcyclist and a child. On August 14, an attack on Lin Yaung Kyi Monastery resulted in 21 deaths – 16 women and 5 men. On August 9, airstrikes on Kyauk Nagar village killed 5 civilians when bombs hit a monastery. On August 2, fighter jet attacks with 250-pound bombs killed 12 civilians and injured 14 others.
July saw continued civilian casualties from military council airstrikes. On July 29, three separate bombing raids targeted Mogok city. On July 26, fighter jets attacked the Shwe Lei Pya Hotel. On July 13, 500-pound bombs dropped on Pan Ma Htaik village injured 6 civilians and destroyed 7 homes. On July 9, a 300-pound bomb attack on Taung Kachin ward killed two 12-year-old children and injured 8 others. Earlier attacks in June and May also resulted in significant civilian casualties and property damage, including strikes on monasteries and residential areas. The military council has conducted repeated airstrikes on Mogok since May, causing extensive civilian casualties and displacement of local populations seeking safety from the attacks.
